私たちは、いつもスマホを持ち歩いていて、必要以上の情報を目にしている。情報は、多ければ良いというわけではなくて、目的のものや必要なものを見つけられないし、探しているはずが寄り道をしてしまう。この探し物をしている間に、注意力も集中力も、そして時間も絡め取られていく。
ネットワーク上に注意を引き止めておこうとする側、さっさと通り過ぎたい側。多くのことを短い時間に処理しようと咄嗟に判断することの繰り返しで、いくらでも溢れてくる情報に翻弄されてしまうのに、このデバイスを手放なすことができない。
意図が込められた情報は空気のように漂っていて、視界に入れさえすれば、人の潜在意識へ働きかけることができてしまう。私たちの意識は、必要な情報よりも個人の感覚に近い情報に引き寄せられて物事を見るようになり、“今ここ”をはなれてしまう。
パーソナライズされた情報を見せられて誘導されそうになる状況は、なかなか止めようがない。意図的に情報を操る誰かは、人が影響を受け、時間とエネルギーを向けてくれるたびに、どこかでほくそ笑んでいるのだろう。
この流れに身を任せてしまうと、私たちの手の隙間から本当に必要なものがこぼれてく気がしてならない。

We carry our smartphones with us all the time and see more information than we should. More information is not always better; you can't find what you want or need, and when you are supposed to be looking for something, you take a detour. Attention, concentration, and time are all tangled up in this looking for things.
The side that tries to keep your attention on the network and the side that wants to quickly pass by. We are unable to let go of this device, even though we are at the mercy of an overflow of information, repeatedly making decisions on the spur of the moment in an attempt to process many things in a short amount of time.
Intentional information is floating around like air, and as long as it is into the visibility, it can work on a person's subconscious mind. Our consciousness is drawn to information that is closer to our personal senses than to the information we need, and we are out of the “here and now.
It is difficult to stop a situation where people are shown personalized information and are about to be led on. Someone deliberately managing information must be gloating somewhere every time people are influenced and direct their time and energy toward it.
If we let this flow, I don't feel that what we really need will spill out through the gaps between the fingers of our hands.

Kaori Miura
Graduated from Kyoto University of the Arts.
Based in Yokohama since 2012. My motifs are different feelings, afterglow, signs, and traces of everyday life, which move back and forth between art and the real world.
