山上渡は、「増殖と変容」そこから生まれる結びつきをテーマとしている。マクロやミクロといった可視化できない領域に私たちの日常とを連関させることで、新たな超現実世界を描きだそうと試みている。今回は、服の炭を使い木版に東京の地図を描いた。山上渡は、空間演出家小池博史脚本演出の舞台「KOSMOS」の美術として参加。 ヒルトン東京での展示作品「Piece of cosmos」はその舞台美術の1部から生まれた作品であり、2024年3月21日～24日東京芸術劇場シアターイーストでの公演にてご覧いただけます。 また、こちらの舞台美術作品は、4月4日～4月14日の期間、EARTH＋GALLERYにてご覧いただけます。 「Piece of cosmos」 Wood, charcoal 910×910 cm 2024 <作品コンセプト> 2024年3月、小池博史氏との共闘作品2作目の「N/KOSMOS-コスモス」が始まる。 これはポーランドのザコパネを舞台にした奇妙な物語亡命作家、ゴンブローヴィッチが書いた最後の小説「コスモス」を小池氏が大胆にアレンジした作品である。 私はこの舞台の演者の足元に広がるコスモス=秩序を描くこととなった。それはある種の必然性と不思議な偶然の集積によって立ち現れたと言っていいかもしれない。 東京の地図、粘菌、鉱物、首を吊った猫、スズメの嘴(くちばし)、矢印、骸骨、etc、、、 物語と現実がクロスオーバーして境界を曖昧にされた曼荼羅が、いみじくもそれらは混沌と秩序を合わせ持った存在としてこの世界に表出したのだ。 In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order. すべての混沌には調和が、無秩序の中には秘められた秩序がある。 〜Carl Jung カール・ユング〜 小池氏が何度も繰り返し伝えようとするユングのこの言葉は、この物語にも宇宙のあり方にも内包されている。 そして私にも。 そしてこの板絵は混沌と秩序を行き来するための装置になるのだ。 Wataru Yamakami's theme is "proliferation and transformation" and the connections that emerge from them.
