SHEN LINTAO 「10」
¥45,200
SHEN LINTAO is a painter born in Jilin, China and raised in Shanghai. He depicts the relationships between people and consumer society, as reflected in the mundane everyday scenes and consumable items of modern society. The bold touch and the use of extreme colors in his depictions of light and dark captivate the viewer's eye and keep them glued to the canvas. At the same time, the motifs expressed in the works are the reality of consumption that has become a part of our daily lives, and the viewer is struck with empathy at the moment of encounter, surprise as if he or she were looking into a frame of his or her own life, and even guilt about consumption. Three years have passed since his solo exhibition at EARTH + GALLERY in June 2021. At that time, the new coronavirus was threatening but moving, and it was a time when digital possibilities were expanding while economic activities were regaining momentum. In this exhibition, the motif is a cab, drawn digitally, and further detailed work is added to reproduce the colors drawn digitally with a unique combination of colors directly on a wooden panel. We hope you will enjoy viewing SHENLINTAO's new works, which challenge new expressions.

山上渡/Wataru Yamakami「Piece of cosmos」
¥550,000
In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order. Wataru Yamakami's theme is "proliferation and transformation" and the connections that emerge from them. He attempts to depict a new surreal world by relating our daily life to the invisible realms of macro and micro. For this exhibition, he drew a map of Tokyo on a woodblock using charcoal from clothes. Wataru Yamagami participated in the stage "KOSMOS" written and directed by scenographer Hiroshi Koike as an art director. The work on display at the Hilton Tokyo, "Piece of cosmos," was created from one part of that stage design, and can be seen in a performance at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre Theatre East from March 21 to 24, 2024. The piece can also be seen at EARTH+GALLERY from April 4 to April 14, 2024. 「Piece of cosmos」 Wood, charcoal 910 x 910 cm 2024 <Concept of the work In March 2024, "N/KOSMOS-Cosmos," the second work in collaboration with Hiroshi Koike, will begin. This is Koike's bold adaptation of "Kosmos," the last novel written by the exiled writer Gombrowicz, a strange tale set in Zakopane, Poland. I was to depict the cosmos = order that spreads out at the feet of the performers on this stage. It may be said that it emerged through a kind of inevitability and the accumulation of strange coincidences. A map of Tokyo, slime, minerals, a hanged cat, a sparrow's beak, arrows, skeletons, etc., etc, The mandala, in which story and reality crossover and the boundary is blurred, has appeared in this world as an existence that has both chaos and order, albeit grimly. In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order. In all chaos there is a harmony, in all disorder a secret order. ~Carl Jung Carl Jung These words of Jung, which Koike tries to convey over and over again, are contained in this story and in the way the universe is. And in me. And this board painting becomes a device to move back and forth between chaos and order.

土井直也/Naoy Doi 「T in shirt "TOKYO“」
¥125,000
「T in shirt "TOKYO“」 Cotton, charcoal, thread, water soluble thread 18 x 18 cm each 2023 Naoya Doi finds paradoxical essence in visible relative phenomena, and visualizes the "temporary" state by dismantling and reconstructing objects using pattern cutting techniques as new containers, and examines and creates works about the value and essence of things. Doi, who mainly uses cloth as his main material, created an installation work, "whereabouts of that clothing after clothing," using discarded cut-off pieces from an apparel sewing factory. He also presented a completely new type of objet d'art, in which patterns are printed on T-shirts using charcoal made from the shredded pieces and sewn together to form letters. In conjunction with the exhibition at the Hilton Tokyo, he will present "T in shirt "TOKYO,"" a series of five letters of TOKYO, each printed in its own pattern. Naoya Doi's solo exhibition is scheduled to be held at EARTH+GALLERY from July 4 to July 14, 2024.
